The quick answer
Go with Candy AI if you want chat, pictures and voice on a single bill. Go with Nomi if talking is the whole point and generated images do nothing for you.
| Candy AI | Nomi | |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Everything in one package | Memory and conversation |
| Conversation | Smooth, takes the lead | Follows your lead, shorter replies |
| Memory | Holds up for about a week | Best we have tested |
| Images | Most consistent in our tests | Available, but no reason to pick it |
| Voice | Included on the standard plan | Depends on the character |
| Price | Lower, more included | Most expensive app we rank |
| Free tier | Too limited to judge | Usable, with caps |
Talking to them
Nomi takes this one. It remembers the thread longer, stays in character, and is comfortable with a pause instead of rushing to fill it. Candy AI is fluent and a little pushy; it will steer the scene somewhere new. Great if you want a writing partner, less great if you wanted someone who just listens.
Pictures and voice
Candy AI, by a wide margin. The character looked like the same person from one image to the next. Nomi's image feature mostly exists so the feature list is not empty.
What you pay
Candy AI is cheaper and gives you more for each dollar. Nomi charges more for a narrower product that it happens to do extremely well. Neither app pushed me into an annual plan, and neither free tier tells you enough about the paid version. Full reviews: Candy AI and Nomi.
If you can only keep one
I reached for Candy AI on nights when I wanted an image and a voice reply in the same place. Nomi got my commute and the late-night texts.
