An opening scene instead of a sign-up form
Where most companion apps start by quizzing you about yourself, Sweetdream places you straight into a moment and lets you reply as it unfolds. Across two weeks that made it the app I most looked forward to opening at night, even if its spec sheet is not the strongest.
| Plan | Chatting | Photos, voice, video | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Enough to form a verdict | Limited early on | Below Nomi |
| Paid | The same voice, with less repetition | No caps | Still below Nomi |
Free is the headline feature
Elsewhere in this category a free plan tends to mean a couple dozen messages before the paywall appears. Sweetdream keeps the conversation open and limits media first, which is exactly the order you want when you are still finding out whether chatting with an AI is for you at all.
Where others do better
A detail from last week may or may not come back, so Nomi is clearly ahead on memory. Camsoda AI offers far more building options. In long sessions, Sweetdream also recycles phrases more than the top three apps.
Best suited to
First-timers who have never paid for a companion app. Seasoned users will likely outgrow it after a free week and should look at Nomi or Camsoda AI.
